Agile Facilitation and Coaching Intensive

Agile leaders, coaches and scrum masters will learn the mindset and skills required to effectively facilitate, coach and mentor others on how to bring out the best in teams as they help them navigate change.

NOVEMBER 5 - 9, 2018 in Cape Cod, MA

Facilitation is a cornerstone skill for successfully leading agile teams. Agile teams rely on collaboration to grow and if you cannot facilitate powerful and productive discussions within the team, you hinder the team’s progress toward success.

Throughout the Agile Facilitation and Coaching Intensive, we will place an equal emphasis on helping you to master the skills of coaching and mentoring individuals and teaching you how to coach teams. That way, you can help individuals grow and help teams gracefully navigate change and level up their performance together.

THE JOURNEY We understand that coaching agile teams requires a strong focus on the journey to high performance. That’s why we help you understand the difference between a team versus a group, know what makes teams grow and perform, and identify where your team might be in their journey toward high performance. That way, you can adjust your approach accordingly.

THE RELATIONSHIPS We’ll help you understand team development, which happens through relationships. Teams need to focus on both tasks and relationships. So, you’ll practice a balanced approach to teaming that places equal emphasis on relationships and tasks. This builds trust within the team and enables them to hold difficult conversations and navigate conflict in a helpful and productive manner.

THE RESULTS We’ll help you inspire a deep commitment from each member of a team that produces repeatable and sustainable results.

Here's What We'll Cover Inside the Intensive

Day 1: Redefine Facilitation

  • You’ll transform the way you approach and design meetings because you have the end in mind.
  • After day one, you just might leave feeling challenged and even unsettled because together we will transform what it means to powerfully facilitate.

Day 2: Deepen Your Team Coaching Skills

  • You will build skills of listening and asking questions to further the group’s conversation and deepen their ability to work cohesively.
  • We’ll address common group conflicts that naturally arise and we'll teach you how to prevent conflict and how to intervene.
  • We’ll wrap the day up putting your new skills into practice so you feel confident and accomplished in your new skillset.

Day 3: Expand Your Leadership Skills through Individual Coaching

  • You’ll learn how to take a coaching stance with individuals when they need extra support.
  • Asking powerful questions is the key to effective coaching and you’ll learn exactly how to do so you can create results rather than simply react to challenging situations.
  • We’ll also demonstrate a powerful coaching conversation arc so you can master the process on your own. When you master this, you’ll help individuals explore new ways of thinking about their goals and their role in the team.

Day 4: Distinguish the Right Time to Mentor

  • You’ll learn a specific formula to share your expertise without overwhelming others.
  • You’ll also clarify your strongest expertise so you always know when to offer mentorship and when to stay in facilitation.
  • We’ll wrap the day up helping you develop your empathy skills to better support team members who transition through change in the organization.

Day 5: Crystalize the Big Picture of Team Development

  • When you know what you do and why you do it, you become a more effective leader.
  • You’ll learn how to distinguish between coaching, facilitation, mentoring and teaching so you can consciously decide which role to play to better serve your team.
  • You’ll also learn how to gracefully and quickly transition between your roles as you work with teams and individuals.
  • You’ll look at the team as a system rather than a group of individuals. When you do, you’ll be able to help the team see patterns and change them for the better.

Meet the Leaders

We are experienced leaders, practitioners and life-long learners dedicated to helping others become the leaders they would want to work for and to create self-sustaining, motivated teams that achieve results.

Marsha Acker, CPCC, PCC

Marsha coaches leaders and teams, who want to work in an more agile manner and lead change in their organization. She is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), and Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF). Her coach training is from Coaches Training Institute and Center for Right Relationships.

The biggest opportunity for today’s leaders is…to create engaging and collaborative environments that access the collective intelligence of their teams and also accomplish the desired results. I often find leaders who are really good at one or the other but struggle with creating both. Those that can cultivate range in their leadership have a real opportunity to achieve even greater performance.

Laurie Reuben, PCC

Laurie works with individuals and teams using a fresh, dynamic, brain-friendly approach to growth and development. She is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF). Her coach training is from the Neuroleadership Institute.

The biggest challenge facing today’s leaders is…finding the strength and the will to lead through vulnerability, which draws people in, and makes us easy to follow.
